Gemeinsam mit der Diplomatischen Akademie Wien laden wir Sie herzlich zur Podiumsdiskussion „The Eastern Partnership (EAP) of the EU: Interim Results, Status Quo and Future Trends“ mit internationalen ExpertInnen ein. Die Podiumsdiskussion findet in englischer Sprache statt.
Inhalt
The Eastern Partnership currently represents one of the key challenges to the progress of European integration, as a key symbolic as well as strategic battleground across which competing geopolitical, socio-economic and identity claims are articulated. The programme has been designed to tie the countries to the east of the European territory of the EU to the Union and foster political, economic, trade and human rights reform. In this way, the EaP has been designed as a tool of political and economic securitization. However, in the short term, the policy has triggered of a new dimension of conflict economic and political influence in Eastern Europe. The most evident competition for influence in the region – certainly as presented in the popular and media imaginary – is that between the EU and Russia, but there also other players beyond the mentioned.
At the backdrop of this, the public event deals with interim results, the status quo and future trends of the Eastern Partnership, mainly – though not only – from the research perspective. In this regard, the international project members from the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Network „Memory and Securitization in the European Union and Neighbourhood“ (NEMESIS) will be discussing their project results.
